Intro To Sailing
A private three-hour introduction to sailing for anyone who’s been curious but hasn’t found the right way in.
Professional instruction, real time at the helm, no experience needed.
See If Sailing Is for You:
A Private Three-Hour Experience
Step aboard a J/24 with a certified captain for a private, hands-on introduction to sailing. We’ll start at the dock with a walkthrough of how the boat is rigged and the basics of how a sailboat actually works, then head out for over two hours of on-water time. You’ll set the sails, adjust them as the wind shifts, and take a turn at the helm. The goal isn’t to memorize everything in one afternoon — it’s to give you the full experience and let you decide if you want to keep going.
The Breakdown
Arrival & Welcome
- 15 minutes
Meet your instructor at the dock in Port Stanley. We’ll grab life jackets, get oriented, and answer any questions before we step aboard.
Rigging & Sailing Theory
- 45 minutes
Learn how a sailboat is actually put together. We’ll show you the parts of the boat, what each line does, and how the sails attach and raise. By the end, you’ll understand why everything is where it is.
On The Water
- 2 Hours
The main event. We’ll motor out of the harbour, raise the sails, and start sailing. You’ll take turns at the helm, set and trim the sails, and feel how the boat responds to wind shifts. Your instructor stays beside you the whole time, talking you through each move.
Back To The Dock
We’ll head back in, lower the sails, and tie up. Time for any last questions and to talk about what comes next if you want to keep sailing.

- Real On-Water Time
Over two hours actually sailing — not sitting through a lecture. You’ll feel the boat respond to what you do.
- No Experience Needed
Zero prior sailing knowledge required. We start from the very beginning and meet you where you are.

What experience do I need to start?
You don’t need any prior sailing experience! Our Sailing Basics Course is designed for beginners and will guide you step-by-step through the basics, no matter your starting point.
Our other experiences, including the Couples Adventure, Family Sails, and Sunset Sails, require no prior experience. Your instructor takes care of all the sailing so you can simply relax and enjoy the water.
What should I bring?
Wear comfortable clothing, non-slip shoes, and a hat or sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun. We’ll provide high end sailing life jackets, but feel free to bring your own if you have one.
Reschedule and cancelation policy?
Cancellations made within 48 hours of your session are eligible for a reschedule or future credit only — non-refundable.
Cancellations within 12 hours are non-refundable and non-transferable. If we cancel due to weather, you’ll receive a full refund, credit, or a new date. Thank you for understanding our small crew and limited schedule.
Weather policy?
We closely monitor weather conditions and will reschedule if necessary for safety reasons. In the case of too much wind, we will notify you as soon as possible and work with you to find a new date. Sailing is not affected by the rain, and we will only cancel or reschedule if the weather becomes unsafe.
What kind of boat will we be on?
We have a J24 sailboat one of the most popular and versatile keelboats in the world. The boat is 24 feet long and is known for its stability, speed, and responsive handling. The J/24 is perfect for both beginners and experienced sailors looking to refine their skills.
